The water from Pond 5 flows through an aerator and into the final settling pond. Exposed again to oxygen, the iron oxide precipitates out and the water leaves the pond free of metals and at a neutral pH. The water exiting this pond is clean water, the same water that enters the system at a pH of approximately 2.8 and exits now at a pH of about 6.5.
